From an educational-historical point of view, this is an important article by photojournalist Sem Presser after his visit to the Kythera Team of the World Council of Churches in November 1962. This Team carried out development work on the Greek island of Kythira at the request of the then Bishop. Sem Presser describes in his article the many reasons why very many, especially young Kytherians, left the island in the fifties and sixties to work for a better future abroad. In my opinion, this article should be translated into English and Greek to be read in the “Migration Museum“ in Agia Pelagia.

The Dutch contribution to Kytherian society has always been an important element in the island’s history and should be recognized as such. As I mentioned to you the other day, a great deal of this information will be documented for use in the Migration Museum.
